UPDATE: Morton claimed that USC would "crush" Texas in the college football national championship game. Morton claimed the score would be USC 35, Texas 27. Morton later said that the score would be USC 55, Texas 21. MISS. The Texas Longhorns ousted USC for the national championship 41 to 38. How is that Morton can advertise himself as a "trained remote viewer" and as "one of America's greatest psychics" yet cannot even predict the outcome of a simple football game?
The end of another year is upon us and with that comes the annual tally of self-proclaimed psychic Sean David Morton's radio predictions from Coast To Coast AM. If any have been missed here, just drop me a line and we'll take care of it. You can also view Morton's hit rate from 2004 here.
Predictions will be listed in white with a hit listed in this color and a miss listed in this color. Some predictions were deemed not applicalbe due to certain circumstances. ufowatchdog.com thanks Simon Aspinall for his fine work in keeping those making the predictions honest by tracking a number of so-called psychics.
One prediction for 2006 we will update here is Morton prediciting the outcome of the USC v. Texas game shceduled for 04-JAN-06. Morton claimed that USC would win 35 to 27, and then predicted USC would win 55 to 21.
With that, let's look at the hits and misses from Morton, who advertises himself as "one of America's greatest psychics."
Los Angeles Rose Bowl will have its own football team called the LA Stallions. MISS. The only reference found regarding the Los Angeles Stallions was here and here. No information confirming that such a team exists could be found.
Yellowstone Park will begin to collapse releasing poisonous gases destroying crops and cattle. MISS.
US will implement the draft. MISS. Morton's claim of his so-called insider government contacts seems to keep failing him, as he claimed he was told by insiders that the draft was going to happen. For more about Morton's bogus intelligence contacts, read here.
Civil war in the US by the fall. MISS. Well, if it happened then America missed this one.
Israel will go into Iraq and blow up some sites between now and 28th July 2005. MISS.
The US capital will move to Denver, which is now in process. MISS. The White House in Denver? Not likely, not on this astral plane anyhow.
Stated that the Federal Interest rate will stay about the same as they are now (July) for about the next 6 months. MISS. The Fed is on a record interest rate hike spree having raised rates 14 times now.
A downward trend in stocks in 2005 for 14 months. The 14-month cycle Morton predicted has not come to an end yet. Not applicable.
Gold will be up to $525 by January 2006. MISS. Gold cloased out the year at $514.50. Close, but rising gold prices news has been everywhere. Nothing like an educated guess. Morton claims that gold will hit $725 by July 2006.
The Swiss Helvetica coin is a good investment. MISS. These coins range in price from $65.00 to $140.00 per coin depedning on condition. They contain very little gold, only .1867 of a troy ounce. Compared to the United States ten-dollar gold piece, which contains .48375 of a troy ounce of gold. Prices for the Swiss Helvetica coin have remained realtively unchanged over the past year.
The Euro will go up to $2 by this Fall. MISS. According to x-rates.com, the Euro did not go up $2.00. In fact, the price of the Euro against the US dollar fell.
Within 18 months there will be a dramatic change in the economic system of the US. There will be a two tiered monetary currency system. Offshore currency will be called Redbacks. MISS. This is not a new idea by any means. Morton is borrowing from an idea that came out several years ago: In an article entitled The End Of Ordinary Money, by J. Orlin Grabbe, this two-tiered money system is talked about in detail back in 1995. Morton claimed on Coast To Coast AM that he had seen these alleged 'Redbacks' in a warehouse in Amsterdam. Of course, no proof of this was offered and Morton did not elaborate on how he came to see a warehouse filled with millions of dollars in these alleged 'Redbacks.' As usual, Morton fell short of providing any evidence.
Oil will rise to $150 next year. MISS. Oil is at $57.99 for Janurary with prices for oil and gas on the decline. It should be noted that Morton later stated that oil would go to $75 to $80 per barrel in Jaunary or February 2006. It looks like that prediction won't come to pass with news of US crude supplies on the rise dropping oil a staggering two-dollars in a single day.
If the oil price continues to rise then the Canadian dollar will soar as there huge oil reserves under Canada. MISS. No rise in oil, no rise in the Canadian dollar.
Morton said that stock in Nuclear Soultions would be a good investment. MISS. This stock started at $1.20 per share when Morton said to buy. It is now at .89 cents per share, a loss of .31 cents per share.
Said Apple Computers was a good investment. HIT. With Apple's great sales of its popular i-Pod line, this really is a no-brainer pick.
Morton said that Azure Dynamics was a good pick, coming in at .93 cents per share. MISS. Well, you lost a whole two cents on this stock.
Caterpillar Tractors will be worth around $100
a share by the end of the year.
Caterpillar came in at $98.70 per share and then were changed to $58.14
per share after the stock split. Combined the two would equate to $100.00,
but since it split Morton can't be correct about the value now. This prediction
is not applicable, though Morton did claim he knew about the split.
Texas Instruments with its Sling Box device that
can turn your computer into a TV will be a good investment. Also they are
developing holographic TV.
Starting price for Texas Instruments was $29.40.
Selling at $32.41 per share. HIT.
Morton said that XM Satellite Radio is a good buy. The starting price as of Morton's prediction for XM was $34.55. MISS. XM is at $27.68 per share , down $6.87 or a 20% loss.
Morton claimed that Pixar was a good stock pick.
HIT. This stock started trading at $42.61 at
the time of Morton's prediction. Now this stock is at $52.77 per share.
However, Pixar stock did nose dive on a previous prediction made by Morton
in January 2004 where he said the stock would soar when it was priced at
$66.24 per share. It nose dived to $42.61 after Morton recommended it to
buy. If you bought in at time Morton said to do so in January 2004, and
you stuck with the stock, you're still at a loss of about 21%.
Morton claimed Wal-Mart as another great investment. MISS. Wal-Mart stock price for this prediction started at $49.51. Wal Mart stock was trading at $47.48, a loss of $2.03 per share.
Morton said Nutracea was his top stock pick and
that this stock will be worth $5 per share in six months.
MISS. This
stock is valued at .80 cents per share, a whopping $4.20 short of Morton's
predicted value.
PetroKazakhstan stocks will go through the roof. No information on these shares. Not applicable.
Morton said that Palatin Pharmaceuticals would
be a big thing.
HIT. This stock started at $1.85 a share and
ended at $3.23 per share by January. A bit of caution here: Morton recommended
Palatin in October 2003 when the stock was selling for $5.89. If you picked
this stock up then and stuck with it, you've lost $2.66 per share or nearly
50%.
Morton claimed that Hurricane Dennis would weaken while another hurricane system would cause Hurricane Dennis to hit Florida's east coast and then move into Texas. MISS. Hurricane Dennis did not fade out and it slammed into Florida while leaving Texas untouched.
Osama Bin Laden is dead and the US Government knows about it. He is buried in Saudi Arabia. MISS. Evidence, more than Morton can provide (he seems to have a problem with producing evidence), is greater that Osama is alive. Don't forget that Morton also claimed Saddam Hussein was dead.
There will be an 8.8 or 8.9 earthquake in the Bay of Bengal area in 2005. MISS. No quake anywhere near that magnitude in that area according to USGS.
A great concern about the pacific northwest in May. Between the 21st and 23rd there will be deep underground earthquake activity under Mt Rainier, Mt Baker and Mt St Helens. Also off the coast of Seattle and Vancouver. MISS. No great concern, Pacific Northwest is safe.
May - September/October earthquake activity in the above area. MISS.
No earthquake above 6.5 in southern California this year. HIT. Sourthern California did not experience any large quakes.
Morton said the 2012 Olympics would be held in New York, but later moved to Los Angeles due to an emergency. MISS. London was chosen to host the 2012 Olympic games.
The stock market will hit a new high of 14,000 and possible 16,000 during the fall. MISS. Not even close.
During September, October or November there will be some sort of warning to all of mankind. MISS. Never heard anything. This prediction is so broad that Morton could easily claim success by saying that even the slightest event was the warning.
The northeast US, Great Lakes area and Europe will be hard with brutal winter weather. HIT. This did in fact happen. Morton missed the fact that the southeast was also hit with harsh winter weather conditions.
35 total predictions, 32 applicable predictions
26 misses, 6 hits. Approximately 18% accurate or approximately 82% inaccurate. While this is better than the meager 4.16% accuracy rating from Morton's 2004 predictions, this again is certainly no where close to the 80% and 90% accuracy rate Morton boasts of and certainly nothing to boast about to begin with. It sure as hell isn't something to call "astonishing" as George Noory likes to dribble.
As for Morton's stock predictions, he actually says that he expects people to "prosper" from those predictions. Morton also claims that a top financial advisor who consults to the White House uses Morton's stock predictions. Based on his accuracy, this is more than a bit hard to buy.
ufowatchdog.com recommends anyone looking to invest money in the stock market or other investment opportunity should seek out the counsel of a qualified financial advisor and avoid the advice of so-called psychics claiming they can foresee the outcome of the markets. Based on Morton's miserable hit rate, I wouldn't invest a penny in any stock advice he might have. After all, this is a psychic who couldn't see the outcome of his lawsuit.
